What can I do to replace my missing teeth?

Teeth may be lost or removed due to severe decay, gum disease, fracture or traumatic injury. When a tooth is lost, the surrounding and opposing teeth can shift and move towards the now open space. These changes are slow to take place, but can eventually lead to an increased risk of tooth decay, gum disease, excessive wearing and jaw joint problems. The jaw bone around the lost tooth will also start to shrink away which can lead to changes in the facial appearance in that area. In addition to this, missing teeth means a loss of function as well as possible cosmetic problems.

Missing teeth can be replaced with:

  • Removable partial dentures/plates
  • Fixed bridge
  • Implant supported tooth/bridge
